Bude win first away game at Wellington

Western Counties League (West)

Wellington 15

Bude 22

BUDE took a giant step towards safety as they came from behind to win their first away game of the season at rock-bottom Wellington.

Wellington led 12-5 at half-time — thanks to two tries by George Hodgson and a conversion by Tom Hawkings — but they could not hold on to their lead as the Seasiders came roaring back with second-half tries through James Comber and Matt Trewin to add to player/coach Adam Black’s first-half score.

Dan Pearce was again in fine kicking form as he converted two of the tries to go alongside a penalty.

Hawkings’ penalty was the Somerset side’s only score after the break.

With three of their four remaining games away, Wellington will need a miracle to survive while Bude are third bottom and just a point below?Burnham-on-Sea and three behind Tiverton.

Bude are next in action at home to St Ives next Saturday in their penultimate home game of the season.
