OKEHAMPTON Medical Centre has issued a warning to its patients of potential disruption in the coming weeks.

The site has released an ‘advance warning’ to patients as it prepares to move to a new computer system and has expressed that there may be ‘disruption to normal service’ from Monday, April 29, until Monday, May 13.

In a statement to patients, a spokesperson for the medical centre explained: “We are in the process of moving over to a new computer clinical system that we use for all your medical records, appointments, and prescriptions.”

The centre has assured the updated system is ‘more efficient and modern’ and hopes to provide a better service.

The spokesperson continued: “We are preparing for this to ensure a smooth transition and to minimise disruption to the care we provide you. We have discussed our outline plan with our patient group, who have been very supportive.”

The centre has asked patients to note that online services, such as repeat prescription requests, viewing medical records, and booking blood test appointments, using Patient Access to the NHS app will be unavailable from April 29 until the new system goes live on May 13. Instead, the centre is contactable via Klinik, phone or in person to provide services.

The spokesperson added: “We would like to ask everyone for their support and patience, and we hope that you can bear with us whilst we become accustomed to the new system.”
