Organisers have announced that this year’s Camelford Show will not go ahead as a result of poor weather.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Camelford Show due to ongoing poor weather.

“The handicraft section will still go ahead.

“We will contact all entrants regarding refunds.”

This year’s show, which was set for Wednesday, August 9, would have marked the 115th anniversary. And with hopes high that the show would push on as normal, despite the turbulent weather much of the South West is experiencing, preparations for the event were well underway; exhibitors packs sent out, judges chosen, and grass cut.

However, despite the decision to cancel this year’s event, the show’s handicraft competition is to still go ahead, a show spokesperson explained: “The handicraft competition section will still go ahead on Wednesday, August 9, at Otterham Hall.”
