THE SECOND EVER Bude Literary Festival is set to make its comeback to the town this week, with events running until Sunday, May 21.

The five-day festival, which first took place last year, is set to feature a number of events across the next few days and builds on the success of last year's inaugural event.

There are also a number of events for schools to join in, too.

Events taking place for the family take centre place, with tomorrow (May 19) set to see events in the community ranging from storytelling for toddlers at The Bandstand at the Castle on the Wharf, a story trail at Bude Library, and a number of talks in addition to live music.

Some events are free while others incur a small charge.

A spokesperson for the Festival said: "Bude’s first ever Literary Festival took place in May 2022, and was hailed a huge success with more than 1,500 people participating over the five-day festival. The inaugural event, hosted by Bude-Stratton Town Council, saw some big literary names and acts visit Bude alongside a many local authors, musicians and performers and we’re pleased to say that we are back!

"This year our festival office is based at Bude Library, where you can come along and talk to our wonderful bookworm volunteers about what’s on, as well as buy tickets.

"Our three main venues are at The Castle Heritage Centre, Bude Library and The Parkhouse Community Centre, but this year we have teamed up with local businesses in town to run even more events. North Coast Wine Lounge, The Falcon Hotel, House of Chaplin’s, The Barrel Pub, The Pearl Exchange and Ebbingford Manor will be taking part as well as a walk and talk in Stratton.

"In addition to that, this year we have compiled a fantastic school programme, that sees over 14 events with wonderful opportunities for the children to become immersed in the literary world, and meet some of their favourite authors.

"That’s not all…….. we have competitions for you to come and join in and win some prizes, so check out the full programme on What’s On to see where your next literary adventure will take you."
