BUDE-STRATTON Town Council have vowed that they ‘wholeheartedly’ wish to keep the existing fountain at the Triangle in the town.
The council looked at various designs and styles at the recent recreation committee meeting on Thursday, January 26, and also spoke about the age of the fountain, which was introduced in 1902.
Councillors of the committee agreed that they ‘wholeheartedly wish to keep the existing fountain, part of which is beyond repair, whether it be used as a fountain or simply displayed elsewhere’.
However, councillors were reminded that the health and safety aspect must be looked into first, and therefore a decision on a replacement has not been made as yet.
The committee agreed that the town clerk, Donna James, is to seek advice from the health and safety advisor or executive to clarify the situation before the council renew the Triangle fountain.
