On Friday and Saturday, April 3 and 4, the Chairman of the Bude and Stratton Twinning Association (BSTA), Reg Revill, and his wife, Mary, were invited to attend celebrations in Ergue Gaberic, Brittany, of the 30th anniversary of twinning exchanges with Bude and Stratton. On Friday they visited two primary schools in Ergue-Gaberic to speak to the children. On Saturday they were guests of honour at a garden party arranged by French twinners. The garden party included an exhibition cricket game between two local teams which was umpired by Robin Blake, BSTA Treasurer. There was also croquet, darts, skittles and a cycling/running race. After the afternoon activities, formal speeches were held and the Chairman was presented with a sign indicating the distance between the two communities with a request to have the sign placed in an appropriate position in Bude/Stratton. These formal speeches were followed by an evening of dining, a quiz, and some Breton dancing. Fifty-one members of the Ergue Gaberic 'Jumelage' (twinning) will be visiting Bude/Stratton from May 29 to 31 when similar celebrations of its 30th anniversary will be held.
