OYEZ! Oyez! Let it be known that although the Hall at Broadclose Hill is no longer theirs, Bude Women's Institute is very much alive and happily settled into their new 'home' in The Pilgrim Room, St Martin's United Reformed Church in Killerton Road, Bude.

The initial meeting in September introduced members to their new abode and the following meeting in October celebrated Harvest Time with a light supper of Cornish pasties and a delicious selection of 'sweets,' courtesy of the committee, after which the overflowing produce on the groaning tables was successfully and hilariously auctioned, Mr. Michael Luxton acting as a very able, often inventive, auctioneer.

Mrs Irene Wildman, President, welcomed members and visitors and members of Stratton WI to the November meeting, and also had great pleasure in introducing two new members joining Bude WI that evening.

Mr Robin Blake, the speaker, told members about 'Shelterbox' and the sterling work carried out by that organisation. It was amazing to find out how much each Shelterbox contained. He said that members might like to visit their headquarters in Helston — an interesting prospect for the future programme. After answering the many questions from members, Mrs Mary Buse gave the vote of thanks.

As the evening drew to a close, Mrs Wildman gave a gentle reminder to all about the forthcoming trip later in the month to Barnstaple Theatre to see 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,' after a pre-Christmas shopping morning.

Winner of the competition, 'A Cornish Photograph' was Irene Wildman, and winner of Flower of the Month was Ellen Blaxland.
