SOME schools in Cornwall and Devon are giving their pupils a free pass to come in late on Monday after watching the Euro 2020 final on Sunday night.

It’ll be an historic moment for the England team, who are through to the finals of a major competition for the first time in 55 years, after beating Denmark on Wednesday in the semi-final.

In one Cornish school, teachers posted that the school would still be opening at the usual time but that “the 10.30am option is in case the children are tired staying up until potentially 11.15pm.

“Rather a late start than an absence.”

Meanwhile staff at Spar shops are being allowed to leave their shift early at 7.30pm on Sunday so that they can get back home in time for the big match.

Has your school told pupils they can come in late on Monday? Or are you an employer giving staff the chance to knock off early on Sunday – or arrive a little later the day after the final? Get on touch. Email [email protected]
