DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a property fire on Bodmin Street in Holsworthy.

On Monday, June 27 at 9.36am two fire appliances from Bude, one from Holsworthy and one from Hatherleigh were mobilised to this incident.

Upon arrival crews confirmed a fire in first floor bedroom, crews set to work to extinguish using breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, two safety jets and two covering jets.

Fire service personnel led one elderly resident to safety. The fire caused 15% fire damage, 30% heat damage, 80% smoke damage and slight smoke damage to neighbouring property. The cause was accidental, a fire spokesman said.
