SATURDAY, June 30 at Crackington Haven saw a very successful celebration for the 70th birthday of the NHS.
This was part of a series of events being held throughout Cornwall. There was huge support from the people going to and from the beach to sign a giant birthday card thanking the NHS for all they do for the public, and to sign a petition calling for an increase in funding from the government.
The card will be presented to Stratton Hospital, and the £120 raised from the sale of cakes will go to the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
The group were also hoping for their MP to attend and tell them what he is doing in parliament to support better funding for the NHS, but he has not replied to their questions or to the invitation.
The event was organised by the Just Desserts action group in Crackington, supported by many friends and helpers. There was a demonstration of CPR carried out by trainer Julia Hobday, and several people took part in a practical learning session.
