IT was another brilliant display in the horticultural and floral art section, with the marquee buzzing with visitors all day.

Successful again with his entries of patio containers, pouch displays, hanging basket and window box was Phil Knight of Lezant, who has stewarded the flower show for many years with the help of his wife Fay.

He received first and second prize for patio containers, first and third for pouches, second for hanging basket and second for window box.

Mr Knight was pleased to be awarded the Jewson Ltd challenge cup for best patio container and told the Post he enjoys exhibiting at the show and getting the chance to meet old friends every year.

Jenny Walters, who is the entry secretary for the floral art section, described this year’s show as ‘brilliant’, adding: “The standard is so high every year and doesn’t disappoint. We have got two new people on board this year. We try to think up different things each year. The hat class has been really popular because it’s fun!

“Whilst you think about flower arrangers and what will entice them to enter you got to think what’s going to be colourful and fun for the public.”
