INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into what could have caused a privately owned helicopter to crash in a field around five miles from Bude on Sunday afternoon, killing the sole person on board.

A man, believed to be in his 40s and from Bristol, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident, in which witnesses said the aircraft narrowly missed a house and caught fire upon hitting the ground.
