FOLLOWING a site meeting at Kilkhampton on Wednesday, March 18 a decision was made to scrap the plans for new kerbing in the Square.
Kilkhampton residents and local business owners expressed their concerns about the work taking place in the Square on Tuesday, March 17.
Cornwall County Council said the work being carried out aimed to assist pedestrians, improve visibility onto the A39 for motorists entering from West Street and to rationalise the parking provisions in the square.
However, several local residents and businesses were unhappy with the plans which they said would result in a loss of car parking spaces.
After several unhappy residents gathered in the Square last Tuesday, a decision was made to stop the work and a site meeting was organised for the following day which would be attended by members of the parish council and the Highway Design Group.
A spokesman for Cornwall County Council said after the meeting: "Following lengthy discussions, the parish council took a decision to remove all provision of new kerbing. The rest of the scheme will still be implemented as issued."
