HEAVENLY voices rang out at a local care home, as residents came together to host a festive Christmas carol concert.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Kernow House care home, in Launceston got in the Christmas spirit by inviting residents and relatives to come and join in with a carol concert to sing some festive Christmas favourites. The singing was led by Ruth Dymond with Revd Mary Williamson delivering the service.

There was mulled wine and mince pies prepared by head chef, Rachel Bateman to get everyone feeling festive. It has become a tradition in the home to get together and have a Carol Service by candle light and it is one of our favourite Christmas events.

General manager, Leigh Stanley said: “We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community here at Kernow House. Singing Christmas carols is such a lovely tradition, I’m so glad we could invite our friends and relatives to come and join in us.”

Resident ambassador Richard said: “I love to sing Christmas carols so it was wonderful to have everyone join in and have this very special service. It reminds me of spending time with my grandparents.”

A spokesperson from the home added: “Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities. This year we have had a busy time in the lead up to Christmas. We have taken part in the Festival of Christmas Trees and Cribs and had lots of trips to see the lit-up trees.”
