AN embroidery group has helped raise funds for Bude Sea Pool.
Members of the Bude branch of West Country Embroiderers raised £200 towards the pool’s running costs.
Member Sylvia Lewis suggested making a Bude Sea Pool embroidery project. Her husband, Barry, took a photograph of the pool and Sylvia got to work painting it before handing it over to Muriel Giles, who skilfully embroidered the piece.
Two years later, the ‘stunning’ piece of work has been completed. It was framed by Seventh Wave Gallery in Bude and auctioned at the recent ‘evening with Ian McNeice’ at the Falcon Hotel in Bude.
The work raised £200 and is now in its new home of Gareth and Lorraine Jeremiah from Crackington Haven, who won the auction.
Chairman of FOBSP Paul Tilzey said: “The Friends are very grateful for this beautiful piece of embroidery, which has been so lovingly made, with such care and attention to detail.
“It really is a wonderful piece of work, it is hard to imagine the amount of skill and patience required to make this beautiful piece.
“The money raised will go towards the Sea Pool’s running costs which costs between £30,000 and £50,000 each season, so every penny towards that cost is very much appreciated.”
