BOSCASTLE and Crackington Gig Club celebrated their very successful year by enjoying a festive dinner at The Coombe Barton Inn on Saturday, December 3.

The compere for the evening, Josh Teague, kept everyone entertained before club chairman, Phoebe Millar, reflected on the club’s achievements over the last 12 months.

Phoebe thanked the four club members, Abi and Jim Wrigley and Polly and Dia Hughes, who were responsible for running the regatta in August, which proved to be a great day for all who attended.

She also praised the work of Nick Holmes who, along with his band of volunteers, has set up the Tamar Rowability scheme, which allows people with physical and learning disabilities, to experience rowing in a gig boat.

She went on to award the Chairmans Cup to Avril Sainsbury for all the work she had put in to help the club to reach the finals of the Aviva Community Award, which if successful, will see a grant for £25,000 come to the ever-expanding club.
