SWPL PREMIER WEST (SATURDAY)

Wadebridge Town 1 Holsworthy 0

THE Magpies failed to mark goalkeeper Ryan Chadwick’s 150th appearance with victory as sub Jack Bowyer settled the game.

Holsworthy had already played twice during the week, beating Bodmin in the league and also advancing to the Torridge Cup final after a 3-2 success over North Molton which came courtesy of Jack Tribble’s brace and an own goal.

Boss Ryan Hall again shuffled the pack.

Defender Jake McLean was back in contention after being for work and replaced the unavailable Todd Peschke, while there were starts for Will Harris and Jacob Nosworthy from the side that had played Thursday night’s semi-final at Torrington.

Wadebridge are hoping to finish the season in third, and dominated possession in the early stages.

Chadwick did pick the ball out of his net on eight minutes after Kyle Flew shot home from 12 yards, but the striker was adjudged offside.

Holsworthy had strong penalty claims waved away on 16 minutes when Jack Tribble appeared to be clattered when about to shoot into an open goal, but the referee said he initiated the contact.

Aidan Slade had a long-range effort well tipped over by Rob Rosevear in the home goal as the half ended goalless.

After the break, Jedd Peschke shot just over from a clever Gavin Carter free-kick, before Bowyer won it on 79 minutes.

The hosts broke quickly down the left and a superb ball across the centre of the box was met by the former Falmouth forward.

The Magpies huffed and puffed in search of an equaliser but to no avail.
