Bude Bridge Club — monthly report

Bude Bridge Club had its Annual General Meeting on April 12 which included the presentation of several trophies won during the previous 12 months.

Carole Reid and Alan Biggs picked up the John Ridding Club Championship and were also half of the Club Teams Champions with Steven Clifton and Dave Clarke.

Neil and Sarah Trenaman were winners of the Club Plate.

Although there were no competitions during April some members were successful in competitions elsewhere. Congratulations to Alan Biggs and Rob Manly on winning the County Men’s pairs at Ladock, Jane Koldeway and Carole Reid, playing together for the first time, who were second in the Ladies’ pairs at Barnstaple and Chris Nichols who won the Gentlemen’s pairs with Roger Gowland from Barnstaple.

There were several multiple winners at Bude during the month but pride of place goes to James Sim and Linda Ashworth, who were both winners with three different partners. James with Mary Hopgood, Maureen Fallows and Jacqueline Russell, and Linda with Charles Clifton, Chris Nichols and Mike Newman.

Other winning pairs during the month were Neil and Sarah Trenaman, Alan Biggs and Carole Reid, Charles and Steven Clifton, Fiona Hargreaves and Mary Hopgood, and Bob and Ann Bennett who recorded the highest score of the year so far with 69.5% on April 29.
