WERRINGTON Thirds are now 14 points behind second-placed St Neot following a heavy 119-run defeat at Division Four leaders St Blazey Seconds.

Opener James Holt made 126 as the hosts racked up 302-8. Dan Inman (3-59 off 7) and Dan Howgill (3-42 off 5) get some reward.

Only Hugh Tomkinson (20) and Richard Stanbury (29) made any early impression, however Matt Gilmour’s 46 not out got Werrington up to 183 all-out.

In Division Five East, Holsworthy Seconds got a vital win as they saw off visiting Grampound Road Thirds by one wicket.

The Roadies were restricted to just 156-7 with Dan Lucas (2-15 off 6) and Ryan Seymour-Smith (3-15 off 7) sharing five wickets.

Holsworthy attacked and lost wickets in equal measure before Nick Ward (3no) and Freya Godfrey (0no) held their nerve with 26.4 overs gone.

Six batsmen made double figures including 23 from stand-in skipper Jack May and number nine Seymour-Smith (17).

Second bottom St Minver lost by six-wickets at Gunnislake.

The visitors travelled with nine and needed a rapid 57 not out from number eight Sam Hocking to get them up to 102 all-out as Graham Murray took 6-14.

Dad Nigel then claimed 4-22 with his left-arm spin, but openers Sam Graber (38) and Kevin Beare (24) ensured no fightback.

Launceston Seconds were beaten by four wickets by visiting Newquay Thirds.

Skipper Josh Theobald’s 90-ball 96 helped them reach 224-6 after being 53-4, while Danny Sloman (29) and Glyn Hutchings (21no) helped.

Newquay were 174-6 with Theobald (3-39 off 8) Martin Vanstone (3-28 off 10) doing the job, but the visitors had other ideas.

In Division Six East, Martin Budge struck 175 not out as third-placed Luckett Seconds recorded a 278-run victory over their Ladock counterparts at Chapel Field.

His 133-ball knock contained 26 fours and four sixes against the nine-man visitors in a total of 369-3.

Mike Clements (53 off 27), Adrian Berry (57 off 30) and Adam Piper (22no off 9) didn’t hang around.

Ladock were 91 all-out with Werrington’s Andrew Smeeth making 30.

Martin Budden took 3-27, while Josh Sample got his maiden Luckett adult wicket.

South Petherwin Seconds lost by four wickets at leaders Bugle.

Roger Gerry (34no) and Sam Payne (28) helped Petherwin recover from 66-7 to post 145 all-out.

Martyn Stenlake’s 4-58 was in vain.

Bude Seconds lost by 14 runs at their Saltash counterparts.

After two cancellations, the Seasiders needed a victory, but the Ashes amassed 207-7 in their 40 overs, despite Dan Petit (2-36) and Mike Taylor (3-23) getting some reward.

Bude fell to 88-6, but Derek Piper’s swashbuckling 75 not out gave Bude a chance.

He got the equation down to 24 off 14, but they closed on 193-9.

Werrington Thirds had a tough afternoon as they were beaten by nine wickets by visiting St Stephen Seconds where Tyler Westlake’s 21 was the best in their 101 all-out.

In Division Seven East, Tintagel Seconds remain second despite a five-wicket defeat at their St Neot counterparts.

Ben Jarram made 36 in Tintagel’s 179-9, while Freddie Knowles (4-42) impressed in the chase.

Lucas Davey (3-38) and Sophie Perry (3-23) shared six wickets in Launceston Thirds’ defeat to visiting Buckland Monachorum Seconds.

Buckland made 262-9 before Paddy Webber’s 22 not out helped Launceston reach 97 all-out.
