BUDE Football Club held their annual presentation Bude Golf Club on Saturday, May 28. After a great meal, which included a carvery followed by a variety of desserts, the speeches started with Richard Pinkus taking charge.
Thanks were expressed to many of the less heralded members of the backroom staff including Huey (The groundsman), the canteen and bar staff, Esme Cornish for the kit washing, and gate staff including technical director Oliver Smith.
The first awards of the evening were as follows: Supporter of the Year — Bradley Hopgood; Clubperson — Greg Cook (Treasurer); Most Promising Under-21 Player — Jason Winser.
After a short break they moved onto the main team awards with the ladies’ first up. Manager Christian Meagan started by confirming a very good season, finishing as league runners-up and individual awards going to Leanne Stanbury, Courtney Ward and Clare Badham for Players Player, Managers Player and Most Promising Player respectively. Onto the men and the thirds were next with Adam Wosnitzka’s surprisingly shortened speech. The team came close to a winners medal in the league. The individual honours went to Liam Anderson (Players Player) and Ian Adams (Managers Player).
The seconds struggled throughout the 2015/16 campaign with a loss of players and lack of commitment which finished with Pinkus taking over as manager late on in the season. The awards went to Jake Salt (Players Player) and Wayne Jeffery (Managers Player).
The final speech was from first team manager Adrian Warburton who thanked Nick Jeffery, Matthew Warburton and Adam Wosnitzka for their assistance this season as the team finished in a more than credible joint seventh.
Billy Hopcroft swept up most of the awards including Players Player, Supporters Player and Goal Of The Season. Wayne Cornish picked up the Managers Player award.
Big thanks were also expressed to Mandy Congdon and the girls for organising the raffle and to all those who donated prizes including BS Air, Penleaze, The Beach and many more. The final thanks went to Bude Golf Club and to Jaff the DJ for an excellent evening.
