Camelford 2
CAMELFORD’S injury list continues to lengthen after both leading scorer Adam Sleep and defender Leighton Carhart were both stretchered off with ligament injuries during their 4-2 defeat at third-placed Exmouth Town on Saturday.
The Camels started well and took the lead when striker Mark Gusterson slotted in a long throw.
The East Devon side gradually grew into the contest and made it all square through Mark Lever and that’s how it stayed until the break.
Sleep continued his fine scoring form to put Reg Hambly’s men back in front.
But Lever was once again on hand to level things up.
Sleep and Carhart were both injured and Camelford were indebted to goalkeeper Luke Gwillam to make a number of fine saves to keep them in it.
However Exmouth were knocking on the door and went in front through Callum Shipton before Nathan Cooper made sure of the points late on.
Camelford are back in league action next Saturday when they make the trip to Plymouth to take on Elburton Villa.

AN ENTERTAINING game of two halves at a wet and windy Pennygillam on Saturday, saw Launceston overcome a stubborn Dobwalls side to claim a quarter-final spot in the Walter C Parson Funeral Directors League Cup.
During the first-half the strong wind made passing football impossible and it was the visitors who adapted better.
They took a deserved 18th minute lead when striker Aaron Spear charged down a clearance and was left to walk the ball into the untended goal.
The Clarets struggled to make any real impression on the game although Rhys Walton was denied by a fine save from Dobwalls keeper Toby Chapman who touched Launceston’s clearest first-half chance over the bar.
The wind dropped markedly during the interval and the Clarets were quick to take advantage. Dan Metherell ran clear of the defence and his cross was neatly turned home by Ruben Kane.
But just as the Pennygillam faithful settled down for a Claret onslaught, the visitors regained the lead. Ray Spear unleashed a fierce cross-shot which goalkeeper Josh Colwill reached but was unable to keep out.
However the goals kept coming and substitute Jordan Walton rammed in a 58th minute Mike Steele cross to make it 2-2.
And it was soon four goals in eight crazy second-half minutes when Kane crashed home an unstoppable 25-yard volley from wide on the right.
The evergreen Liam Tilley capped a fine defensive display with a rasping 20-yard effort to earn Mike Walton’s men some breathing space, only for Dobwalls to make it 4-3 when Ryan Howe struck a firm drive past Colwill to set up a frantic final ten minutes of the tie.
But Launceston played out time without too many alarms to reach the last eight.
The draw was made in the Pennygillam clubhouse after the game and gave the Clarets an away tie against the winner of the outstanding fixture between Division One (East) side Elmore and fellow Premier Division rivals Saltash United.
Next up for Launceston are Godolphin Atlantic who visit Pennygillam on Saturday (kick-off 2.15) as the Clarets go in search of precious league points to move away from the bottom six.
