FOUR Post area clubs will hope to join Cornish football’s big boys in the last 32 of the RGB Cornwall Senior Cup tomorrow.

With 22 SWPL clubs from the Duchy awaiting in the next round, Bude Town, Morwenstow, North Petherwin and St Minver could earn themselves a plum tie against the likes of Saltash United, Helston Athletic or Bodmin Town as well as Post area clubs Callington Town, Camelford and Launceston.

Mid-table St Piran League East outfit Bude Town have the toughest task of all as they head to Penryn Athletic from the equivalent Piran League West, who have won all nine games so far to open up a five-point lead at the top of the table.

The Seasiders also had last Saturday off due to Wadebridge Town Reserves’ concession, meaning it’ll be a fortnight since they took to the field by the time they kick-off at Kernick Road.

Bude’s near neighbours Morwenstow, who won 2-0 at Saltash Borough in the first-round, are sitting pretty in seventh in the same division and will be confident of progressing against St Cleer, who play in the league below, East Cornwall Premier League.

St Cleer have won three and lost three of their six games so far, including a thrilling 4-3 win at Foxhole Stars, to sit in mid-table.

St Cleer’s league rivals North Petherwin host St Ives Town tomorrow at Petherwin Park, looking to build on their superb 7-1 victory at Godolphin Atlantic Reserves last weekend.

The Badgers have enjoyed a solid season so far at Step Eight and have nothing to lose against their West Cornwall visitors, who are sixth in St Piran League West with 13 points from seven games.

St Minver are second in the East Cornwall Premier and go to Perranporth, who are level on points with St Ives, having played the same number of games.

There’s also a break in league action for St Minver’s near neighbours St Teath as they head to Roche in the last 16 of the East Cornwall Premier League Cup.

There’s also plenty of league action across the Post area.

In the Kit Kitchen South West Peninsula League Premier East, freefalling Holsworthy could do with a result when Brixham visit Upcott Field. In the equivalent Premier West, Launceston have the toughest test possible as they head to Helston Athletic, who have won nine and lost just one of their ten fixtures so far. Both Callington Town and in-form Camelford have the weekend off.

With Bude and Morwenstow in Cornwall Senior Cup action and Callington Town Reserves having a bye, Launceston Reserves could end the day as high as third if they beat Torpoint Athletic Reserves at Pennygillam and Lanreath shock Saltash United.

There’s a near full programme of Cornwall Airport Newquay Duchy League action tomorrow, including all six Post area clubs in the Premier competing.

Leaders Gunnislake go to winless St Merryn while fellow unbeaten side St Breward, fresh off last weekend’s 9-0 derby success over Tintagel, are also on the road at mid-table Stoke Climsland.

Tintagel will hope to bounce to bounce back with a home game against Tregrehan Mills, while local rivals Boscastle are also on the road, at Holywell and Cubert.

Altarnun won their solitary league fixture so far and head to Cargill Road to face St Newlyn East, who have two victories from two.

In Division One, Lifton host FC Tavyside in the opening game involving a Post area club.

Two of the top three square off in Division Two as Bude Town Reserves welcome their Lifton counterparts to Broadclose Park. The Seasiders have nine points from a possible nine, while Lifton are three points back, having played a game more.

The other four Post area clubs in the division also come together. Boscastle Reserves head to Launceston College Playing Fields to tackle Southgate Seniors, while North Hill entertain Week St Mary.

Delabole United will hope for a third straight away victory and their first league points of the season tomorrow in Division Three.

United, who have only played once in league, advanced in the Cornwall Junior Cup and won in the group stage of the Shoeboy Duchy League Cup last week at North Hill, and head to Queens Rangers.

Elsewhere in the basement division, Bude Town Thirds host Roche Reserves, revamped Gunnislake Reserves make their first league appearance in a number of years against near-neighbours St Dominic Reserves and North Petherwin Reserves head to Trevarrian Holiday Park to tackle their St Mawgan counterparts.

Across the border, there’s Post area interest in the North Devon and Exeter and District leagues.

In North Devon, Senior Division leaders Holsworthy Reserves, head to winless Barnstaple while Kilkhampton and Shebbear United are also on the road, at Combe Martin and Landkey Town respectively.

Bridgerule Reserves are the only Post area club in action in Intermediate Two as they entertain Eastside at Vinnacombe Park.

In the bottom tier, Bradworthy Reserves host Hartland Clovelly thirds and Shebbear United Reserves make the long trip up to their South Molton counterparts.

There’s a key early game for Halwill tomorrow against East Budleigh in Division Two of the Exeter and Devon League.

Halwill have started the season well to sit third with ten points from six games, but tomorrow’s visitors have nine from four.

In the league below, Halwill Reserves, who won 4-2 at Exeter University Fifths last Saturday, make the three-hour round trip to the seaside village of Axmouth.

There’s also plenty of football on Sunday.

There are the first two ties in the first-round of the Launceston Cup as Halwill host Bridgerule B and Pensilva host Southgate Seniors.

In the local women’s football, Callington Town, top of the South West Regional Premier, make the trip up to Wiltshire to tackle Ilminster Town.

Closer to home, in the South West Regional West division, Bude Town host Plymouth Argyle Reserves.

In the Earthbound Electrical Cornwall Women’s League Division One League Cup, Callington Town Reserves make the long trip West to Penryn. In Division Two, it’s also League Cup duty for St Breward and St Teath.

St Breward entertain Saltash Borough at Brake Parc while St Teath are also at home, against table-topping Bodmin.
