LADIES SECTION

BUDE’S ladies got their Date League campaign underway on Friday, May 10 with a narrow 38-34 success at Saltash A to take home 3.5 of the four points on offer.

The rink scores were as follows: T Carley, J Horncastle & M March won 17-21; T Tibbetts, G Hodgkinson & A Butler drew 17-17.

MEN’S SECTION

CORNWALL COUNTY LEAGUE GROUP TWO

Bude B made the very short trip up to their Stratton counterparts on Tuesday, May 7 for their Division Two clash, but came away with just a point in a 55-46 defeat.

The rink scores were as follows: B Goddard, A Smeeth, K Hodgkinson, B Wonnacott won 16-20; W Renshaw, M Mills, B Weeks, R Worden lost 22-16; J McConnell, D Hodge, M Claydon, B Dixon lost 17-10.

Two days later saw the A teams battle it out at Stratton in Division One, but this time the hosts cruised to a 76-26 victory for all five points.

The rink scores were: R Worden, C Shepherd, A Butler, N Worth lost 24-11; S Jones, A Smeeth, R Cadd, S Hall lost 25-6; R Smeeth, C Gardener, R March, B Bonsor lost 27-9.

The club would also like to congratulate Brian Wonnacott, Richard Cadd and Nigel Worth for reaching the Section final in the National Triples where they eventually lost to a team from Saltash.

KENSEY VALE BOWLING CLUB

MEN’S SECTION

KENSEY Vale A got their Cornwall County League Group Two Division One campaign underway on Thursday, May 2 with a visit from Stratton A.

Despite two of the rinks being extremely close, they ended up well beaten 74-36 for no points.

The rink scores were as follows: A Crichton, A Blackie, R Worth & N Trewin lost 16-19; A Jiggens, P Musson, B Dyer & P Gilbert lost 15-21; J Mills-Ramage, S Fettner, S Brateley & P Prynne lost 5-34.

A day earlier saw their A team get their season started with a visit from Saltash in the East Cornwall League.

A ten-shot victory – 81-71 – was the result with four of the six points staying in Launceston.

The scores were as follows: A Davis, G Kay & R Worth won 19-18; S Uglow, I Preator & S Maiden won 28-12; D Ware, C Bray & D Trewin lost 19-20; J Lindsay, R Chamberlain & B Ward lost 15-22.

Kensey Vale A were at home for the second successive week in Division One of the Cornwall County League (Group Two) on Thursday, May 9, but this time ran out comfortable 83-27 winners over their Camelford counterparts for all five points.

The rink scores were as follows: A Crichton, A Blackie, R Worth & N Trewin won 30-13; P Musson, S Maiden, B Dyer & P Gilbert won 22-6; J Mills-Ramage, S Fettner, S Brateley & P Prynne won 31-8.

Wednesday, May 8 saw Kensey’s East Cornwall League team head to Wadebridge, but were beaten 75-52.

One rink did manage a draw for half a point, but it was the home side than won the other three rinks to take 4.5 points for their efforts.

The scores were as follows: J Lindsay, G Kay & R Worth drew 19-19; P Freeman, S Uglow & S Maiden lost 9-23; D Ware, C Bray & D Trewin lost 14-15; A Davis, R Chamberlain & B Ward lost 10-18.
