BUDE have been drawn at home to Avonmouth Old Boys in the first round of the Papa John’s Community Cup Counties One South Shield.

The North Cornwall outfit, who finished tenth in Counties One Western West, will welcome their Bristol-based opponents next Saturday (April 1).

The new competition is to be played in a knockout format with the winners having to navigate five games to be crowned champions.

There is no seeding for the competition with the draw for the next stage to be announced on the following Monday.

Clubs were placed in their respective sections based on their league position following fixtures on Saturday, March 18.

The second round is set for April 15 with a game every week, if you get that far, up to the final on May 7.

Bude won’t have a better chance to progress than against the Old Boys who finished bottom of Counties One Western North and have won just twice all season, the last of which was back in September, shipping on average nearly 45 points per game.

Falmouth, winless in Bude’s division, have an away trip to Blandford who finished 11th in Counties One Southern South.
