LOCAL runners have been busy competing in three events across the Duchy.
First up on Saturday, July 26 was the Tywardreath Trotter – race one of the 2025/26 Cornish Multi-Terrain Race Series.
This seven-mile race is held on the south coast of the county and is held on a mix of footpaths, bridleways and country lanes as well as starting and finishing at the village pub.
Bude RATs’ Antony Jarvis was home in just 45:25 for first in the M50-54 age group, while his club-mate Stephen Hutchinson was second in the M70-74 section in a time of 1:05:56.
Two Launceston Road Runners also took part – Claire Winfield and Jaine Hynes – in times of 1:04:16 and 1:06:48 respectively.
Sunday, August 3 saw the Indian Queens Half Marathon, race nine of the Cornish Grand Prix Series and both Bude RATs that took part – Chloe Constantine and Stephen Hutchinson – enjoyed themselves.
Chloe’s time of 1:40:34 was enough for second in the F50-54 age group, while Stephen was victorious, one minute and seven seconds clear of East Cornwall Harriers’ John Sudell.
Launceston Road Runners also had two top three finishes.
Jenny Mills’ 1:54:49 saw her win the F75-79 age group, while Jon Kappes was third in the M55-59 section in a time of 1:32:12.
The other entrants from Launceston were Darren Evans (1:29:52), David Thomson (1:37:50), Lewis Halliday (1:48:59), Claire Winfield (1:53:14), Matt Pickard (1:57:51), Katie Fowler (1:58:49) and Stephen Jenkins (2:04:41).
Camelford Up and Running duo Emma Deanes and Emma Grigg also ran in times of – 2:25:02 and 2:44:36 respectively.
Morgan Craig was the sole Bude RATs representative when he made the long trip down to take on the St Ives Bay 10K on Tuesday, August 5.
He was fourth overall in 40:19 and took the top prize in the M45-49 category.
