FIRE crews from multiple stations were called to a blaze at a business in Holsworthy.
The incident is understood to have taken place at the premises of Tamar Trading in the town on May 14, with the fire occurring in the extraction system at the premises.
Crews from Holsworthy, Hatherleigh, Torrington, Barnstaple, North Tawton, Bideford and Ilfracombe responded to the call with it later deemed that the cause of the fire was accidental.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire control received a call to a fire within an extraction system at a business in Holsworthy.
“Control mobilised three fire appliances from Holsworthy, Hatherleigh and Torrington, an Aerial appliance from Barnstaple and a supporting officer.
“Once in attendance, crews confirmed there was smoke and flames issuing and a short while later, control received an assistance message requesting two more appliances. These appliances were mobilised from North Tawton and Bideford along with an incident command unit from Ilfracombe and two further supporting officers.
“Initial information passed by the crews confirmed a fire within an extraction system and crews were using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and thermal imaging camera.
“Fire involving an extraction system within a single storey commercial building measuring 40 metres by 20 metres. The fire caused 20 per cent fire damage and 30 per cent smoke damage to the building. A total of eight breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two safety jets, two thermal imaging cameras one compressed air foam jet and one triple extension ladder was used. This fire was confirmed to be accidental.”
A spokesperson for Tamar Trading said at the time of the incident: “An unforeseen event has caused issues for our Holsworthy Branch this afternoon (May 14). Business will resume as normal at 7.30am (May 15). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
