FIRE crews from Holsworthy described the moment that they dealt with a different type of incident – when tasked to rescue Maxi, the miniature dachshund from a locked car.

The poor pup was in a car which had locked itself with the keys also left inside, meaning assistance was required from the town’s fire fighting heroes to reunite Maxi with his owners.

A spokesperson for Holsworthy Fire Station said: “One appliance from Holsworthy was mobilised to assist a family whose car had locked itself with the keys and a dog inside.

“On arrival our crew used small tools and gaining entry equipment to open the car and safely return Maxi the miniature dachshund back to his owners.

“Our resident dog lover Firefighter [David] Goodman couldn’t resist a photo with Maxi.”
