DESPITE the rain, 25 floats, ten visiting queens as well as a variety of walking entries took part in this year's Bude Carnival on Saturday, August 17.

Bands in the procession included Torrington Allstars Majorettes, Bude Town Band, North Devon Pipes and Drums and Barnstaple Youth Marching Band, with Vamanos Brazilian Samba Band playing in The Triangle.

Susanne Bartrop, secretary of the carnival committee, said: "Due to the continuous rain and drizzle there were fewer spectators and consequently the street collection was down on last year at £1,225.

"Thanks go to everyone who took part in putting on another great show despite the atrocious weather, not forgetting all the charity stallholders, Amanda Brooks dancers, the children who took part in the afternoon's fancy dress competitions and 'TigerBalm' who entertained on the bandstand in the afternoon."
