On a rare sunny Saturday in June this year Chris Bale attended the Cornwall Tractor Club's annual rally at Fraddon to launch his appeal for a Diagnostic Scanner. Each year the Cornwall Tractor Club raises funds for a worthy cause. Encouraged by their Chairperson, Sue Morcombe, who is renowned for her charity work, they are putting their efforts into raising money for a Diagnostic Scanner to enable early diagnosis of the condition Polymyalgia Rhuematica. This condition causes the inflamation of the blood vessels and is very painful and debilitating to sufferers, which in some cases means they are confined to a wheelchair or that their sight is affected. A scanner enables early diagnosis of the condition, which in turn means earlier treatment. Also helping raise funds for the scanner are Bencoolen 'C' darts team of Bude. One of their players, Robin Bale, has a personnel interest in this condition as his father Chris suffers from it. The landlady of the Bencoolen Inn, Lorraine, has very kindly sponsored the team's shirts and is supporting their efforts to raise funds for this much needed scanner. Patrons of this appeal are Ray Shaddick, Jannette Eathorne and Paul Finn (solicitor). Anyone wishing further details can contact Chris Bale on 01288 354918.
