Bude Infant School decided to run another charity marathon this year, following on from their successful Kick Asthma event last summer.
They felt that it would be an appropriate choice to support CLIC Sargent this year because there is a child in the school, Lavis McDougall-Gittens, who is receiving treatment for leukaemia.
This charity makes a difference to thousands of lives and provides a complete care package for children with cancer or leukaemia, and their
families.
Bude Infants' marathon event covered 26.2 miles, shared by all infants in the school, completing fun multi-skills challenges on the way, as organised by a selection of children from Year 6 at the Junior School.
Together, the infant children raised a staggering total of £2,374.80, with all proceeds going direct to CLIC Sargent. The cheque was presented to the former chairman of the local branch of the charity, Brian Taylor, who will ensure that the money stays in the South West.
Special thanks were expressed to all of the people who donated, to the infants who completed the event, and to the Junior School for providing the location, helpers and time to organise it.
Also, many thanks went to Sign O Times for their generous provision of specially engraved medals, which were presented to each child who raised £15 or more.
At Bude Infant School they have now decided to organise a similar marathon event every
summer, supporting a different charity in the local area each year.
