WITH a number of new entries this year it was clear everyone was delighted to see the return to the handicraft marquee.
Everyone pulled the stops out for this one, taking part in a variety of craft, vegetable and flower crafting and creating sections.
Elaine Reynolds, secretary of the handicraft marquee, said: “We have had some really great entries here today, the show benches are absolutely brimming with wonderful items.
“We have had lots of new people enter this year, as well as our usual exhibitors — we are really pleased with how its turned out!”
A regular face in the marquee is Helen Ferguson of Delabole, who has been entering the show for many years.
She said: “It is all about the vegetables and flowers for me as I have an allotment in Delabole.
“My daughters usual enter too, they have grown up with the show— I think that is what makes it so special, it really is a family event.”
She added: “I am very pleased with my wins today and can’t believe we have been blessed with such sunshine — I don’t think it has ever been this sunny at Camelford Show before!”
There was a shock in store for one group, which only started last year, when they were presented with the Club Class first prize cup.
Chatty Craft, based in Boscastle, was the brainchild of Denise Ross-Fry. It brought together like minded people who want to come together for fellowship and crafting.
She said: “We’ve only been going for one year and this display was our celebration of that.
“There used to be a craft club in Boscastle but I think it shut down so I decided to start up my own and I have some lovely ladies who attend and craft together.
“We made everything on the display and it is wonderful to receive a prize for all that hard work.”
She added: “We are about fun, chat and crafting, but there is more to our group than just crafting.
“Anyone can come along and join, we don’t have any men yet but they would be very welcome.”
