A GROUP of volunteers who dedicate some of their spare time towards raising money to go towards the research that aims to find a ‘cure’ for cancer have expressed their gratitude after a generous donation from another of Camelford’s local institutions.

The Camelford Committee of Cancer Research UK was presented with a cheque for £1,750 by the Camelford Conservative Club’s members as a part of the proceeds from the club’s annual harvest auction, which was held in September.

At a cheque giving ceremony, the committee was presented with the cheque, with the event also seeing a second donation, also for £1,750 presented to the Little Acorns nursery in the town to go towards the charitably run nursery based at Camelford Hall on Clease Road.

In thanking the Camelford Conservative Club, Sally Moore, the cancer research committee’s honorary treasurer revealed that since 1984, a time period representing the last 41 years, the club had raised £27,230.10 to go towards the fundraising efforts of the local cancer research committee.

After the presentation, a spokesperson for the Camelford Committee of Cancer Research UK said: “The Camelford Committee of Cancer Research UK has extended its thanks to the Camelford Conservative Club for their recent donation of £1750.

“The funds presented at the club were raised at the club’s annual harvest auction in September.

“On accepting the cheque, Sally Moore, the honorary treasurer profusely thanked the chairman, officers and all the club members their extremely generous donation and added that since 1984, the club has raised £27,230.10 for the Camelford Committee of Cancer Research UK.

“A cheque for £1,750 was also presented to the Little Acorns Nursery in Camelford.

“The Camelford Cancer Research UK committee would once again like to thank the club for their continued support.”
