A brand new series of folk, blues and grunge inspired music concerts are set to take place in the beautiful and untamed surroundings of Underpine Woods, near Bude, starting on Saturday, August 2.
‘In The Pines, In The Pines’, as the festival is to be known, will feature some of the county’s top indie-folk artists, starting with duo Holly Anne Coles and Mitch Cartwright’s, Lore and Lament, Irish singer and musician Joe Doyle and Bude’s very own James Dixon, fresh from his hugely successful tours with Seasick Steve and Wille and the Bandits.
Taken from a line in the much-covered Lead Belly’s song, ‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night?’ In The Pines, In The Pines hopes to capture the very best in deep and soulful music that this amazing area of ours has to offer, with the very first event hosting three genre-busting acts who will each lend their unique and passionate style and sound to the very first night, perfectly.

“It’s music for the soul, under trees,” performer James Dixon revealed excitedly. “Hopefully this will be a real first for Bude and the county as a whole. It could really help put singers, songwriters and musicians from this area on the map, especially as far as Folk and Blues music goes.
James added: “And the setting is so untamed, and so naturally beautiful, It will be an experience that no one will ever forget and hopefully it’s just the start of something really, really big!”
The event, which starts at 6pm and continues until 10pm, is presented by Spare Peg Records in association with Underpine Woods and the Preston Gate. The concert is an advanced ticket sales only event, no tickets on the door.
