A CHARITY wrestling event in Holsworthy wowed audiences while raising money for some good causes.

On Sunday, March 24, crowds gathered at Holsworthy’s Memorial Hall, excited to experience an evening of action-packed entertainment as the stars of the Lions Den Pro Plymouth and South West Wrestling came to town.

Providing an unforgettable show, the event also raised funds for the mayor’s chosen charities.

Toby Johns, promoter for the event explained: “Holsworthy Memorial Hall was packed with a loud and animated crowd that saw the very best of modern, British professional wrestling.

“With fan favourites ‘New Vision’, ‘The All Star’ Ruby Manitoba and Holsworthy's own ‘Farm Strong’ Toby St John all prevailing in their bouts.

“More than, £200 was raised for the mayor's charities, Holsworthy Youth Club and Holsworthy Area Sports Pavilion, with the mayor himself getting in on the action to make sure that the rules of the sport were enforced during the main event match.”

Attending the event, mayor of Holsworthy, Nigel Kenneally said: “I had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at the wrestling. The skill of the wrestling and the atmosphere were amazing. Very much looking forward to the next one.”

Live wrestling will return to Holsworthy soon, meanwhile, the next event will be in Bude, on June 15.
