THE Kooks have been announced as a headline act for The Great Estate Festival 2027.
They have joined previously announced synth-pop pioneers The Human League for the festival’s milestone tenth anniversary at Scorrier Estate.
The Kooks’ 2006 debut sold more than two million copies and soundtracked a generation, but nearly two decades later the band find themselves newly beloved by another.
While their first wave of fans remain fiercely loyal, a vibrant Gen Z audience has embraced them too, with social media introducing their Britpop-tinged indie sound to millions of new ears and helping turn The Kooks into major festival favourites all over again.
Songs including ‘Naïve’ and ‘She Moves in Her Own Way’ have become cross-generational anthems, while the band’s recent resurgence has included world tours, festival performances and their biggest ever UK headline tour, taking in Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s O2 Arena.
The Kooks released their seventh studio album, Never/Know, earlier this year, reaching the UK Top 5, their highest chart position since 2008. Almost twenty years into their career, they have reconnected with their roots and proved themselves as one of indie music’s most enduring live forces.
Taking place from Friday, June 4 to Sunday, June 6, The Great Estate is a celebration of Cornwall’s music, creativity, community and landscape.
