A TEENAGER from Lifton has won the Junior Cup Championship in the Thundersport GB 2020 series at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.

Finley Arscott took part in the fourth and final round with his eyes on the prize, but he knew it was set to be a weekend with tricky weather conditions.

He had to tackle four races spread over two days, but his second place in race two on the Sunday was enough to secure the silverware.

Explaining his weekend, Finley said: “Despite the tricky weather I got a second place in the first race on the Saturday.

“In the second race we chose the wrong tyres but I managed to hold on to another podium spot, coming home in third.

“On Sunday, the weather yet again caught us out and we chose wet tyres on a quickly drying track.

“I had to push hard to try and get the win but unfortunately I crashed out of the last corner.

“But due to my big points lead I was able to finish second in the last race comfortably and take the Championship.”

Finley added: “I’m so delighted to get a championship after only completing 18 months of road racing.

“I’m so grateful for everything my family has done, especially my mum and dad.

“My dad has made a drastic change to his life and dedicated his life to go racing with me, and I cannot be thankful enough for what he has done for me.

“As well as my family I have had some fantastic sponsors who helped me massively during this strange year.

“Next year we will hopefully be making the step up to the British Superbike Championship, which I am very excited about, and continue with club racing here and there to get the track time.

“For 2021, we are really looking for some sponsorship to help with costs, and if you are in a position to sponsor me, please contact me at [email protected] as there are sponsorship packages available.”
