AN inaugural ‘doggy day’ was held in the grounds at The Weir, near Bude, on Sunday, June 25.
The event attracted a total of 112 entries to a fun dog show, in spite of the weather.
Organisers saw a huge total of 112 entries in ten ‘doggy’ classes, with the largest class having 16 entries.
This class was for the Best Rescue Dog, which showed ‘wonderful support in this area towards rehoming dogs who need a second chance in life’.
The championship was won by a lovely, young golden retriever, Teddy, owned by Sian Hooker from Marhamchurch.
The title of reserve champion was gained by a blue merle collie, owned by Kate Holding from Rosecare.
There were cups donated and prizes for each class, donated by Stable Door Feeds.
Along with the dog show, there were also many other dog-related events happening, including sheepdog demonstrations by a local shepherd, Daniel Heard, and a gun dog training demonstration by Stephen Harrison and his team, who had travelled from Wiltshire.
One of the organisers, Sue Proudfoot, said: “It was our first show and we shall definitely be doing it again next June!”
