GRANVILLE Lodge has installed a new Master.
The members of Granville Lodge No. 3405 assembled at the Masonic Hall in Bude for the annual ceremony of installing a Worshipful Master to preside over the lodge for the next 12 months on Tuesday, April 18.
All Masters of lodges have to be balloted for and approved by the members and must have previously served as a lodge Warden.
The newly elected Master on this occasion was Tony Davis from Kilkhampton who has been a member of the lodge since June 1970. Tony has hardly missed any meetings since joining and he is always keen to attend all masonic rehearsals and practices and is an enthusiastic supporter of all social and fund raising events. He was previously Master of Granville Lodge in 1981 and as he said in his speech: “It is a great honour to have been re-elected and installed and it proves that re-cycling is alive and well in freemasonry!”
As a result of his services to Granville Lodge and the Province of Cornwall over many years Tony was appointed to the rank of a Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden by the Provincial Grand Master in 2009.
After the formal ceremony in Bude the members, together with their guests and the official contingent representing the province retired to The Weir Restaurant at Whalesborough where they enjoyed a celebration dinner. The Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Cornwall, Peter Roberts, made a speech congratulating Tony on becoming the Master for a second time and thanked the members for the warm welcome and hospitality shown to him and all the guests. He particularly thanked the lodge for the cheque presented to him for £250 as a contribution to The Cornwall Masonic Benevolent Fund. This fund helps many worthy causes and is supported by all lodges in Cornwall.
Worshipful Brother Tony will preside over the next full meeting of the lodge on Tuesday, May 16.
