SOUTH West Lakes Trust celebrated the opening of a brand new play area at Upper Tamar Lake near Bude by hosting a tea party in Tamar’s popular Frog Hopper Café, on Tuesday, July 26.

The tea party was attended by local children from Bude and the surrounding area, along with their parents and South West Lakes Trust employees.

Tamar Lakes received a funding boost in March to provide a new play area at this idyllic spot, which also boasts a watersports centre, lakeside campsite and a three-mile circular walk around the upper lake, which is flat and perfect for pushchairs.

The SITA Cornwall Trust, Cory Environmental Trust in Cornwall, South West Water, the Lennox Foundation and the Cornwall Community Fund have supported the £58,000 project.

Working with Playquest Adventure Play, the play area has been designed to provide a modern and interactive play area for children, of a wide age range and ability, visiting the lakes with their families.

Chief executive, Andy Parsons, said: “We hope that many families will benefit from our new play area, locals and holidaymakers alike, it provides a perfect finish to a walk or cycle around the lake.”
