A DOG rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming charity in Porth has launched a fundraising appeal to give a Staffordshire Bull Terrier the chance of a happy new beginning.

St Francis Dogs Home is aiming to raise £600 for the dental treatment and aftercare needed for 10-year-old George who has been providing him care after his owner died.

A spokesperson for St Francis said: “We stepped in quickly to bring George into our care, ensuring he would no longer have to face this difficult time alone. Thankfully, a temporary foster home has now been found for him, giving him the comfort, companionship and reassurance he needs while he begins to settle and adjust to life without his owner.

“But there is still one important hurdle to overcome before he can start the next chapter of his life. The gentle old boy needs extensive dental treatment and aftercare, with £600 needed to cover the costs and prepare him for adoption. For a dog who has already experienced such a heartbreaking loss, getting this treatment is a vital step towards finding him the loving forever home he deserves.

“Despite everything he has been through, this lovely boy has so much love left to give. He is a gentle soul who deserves comfort, kindness and the chance to spend his golden years surrounded by people who care about him. St Francis Dogs Home is now asking the public to come together and help give him that chance.

“Every donation, no matter how small, will help bring him closer to receiving the treatment he needs and finding a new family to call his own. A donation of just a few pounds could make a real difference to this special boy’s future. By helping St Francis Dogs Home reach its £600 target, supporters can play a part in turning a sad ending into a hopeful new beginning.”
