A FESTIVAL of flowers was held in Morwenstow Parish Church from Friday, May 22 till Monday, May 25 entitled 'Nursery Rhymes'.
The following stunning arrangements were greatly admired: 'The Owl and The Pussy Cat' — Anne Whitehead; 'Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary' — Morwenstow Bowling Club; 'Ring-a-Ring o' Roses' — Bridget Inch; 'Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe' — St Mark's School; 'Hickory, Dickory, Dock' — Morwenstow Bell Ringers; 'Little Boy Blue' — Parochial Church Council; 'Boys and Girls Come Out to Play' — Morwenstow (Historical) Society; 'Goosey Goosey Gander' — Morwenstow Parish Council; 'Hey Diddle Diddle' — Hartland Parish Church; 'Little Bo Peep' — Morwenstow Community Centre; 'Jack and Jill' — Morwenstow Women's Institute; 'Lavender's Blue' — Old Vicarage; 'Ding Dong Bell' — Kilkhampton Church; 'Round and Round the Garden' — Gloria Street; 'I'm a Little Teapot' — Shop Chapel; 'Little Miss Muffet' — Morwenstow Football Club; 'Humpty Dumpty' — Jeanette Norman; 'The Queen of Hearts' — Morwenstow Men's Institute; 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' — Morwenstow Pre-School; 'Polly put the Kettle on' — Woodford Chapel.
The altar was decorated with 'Oranges and Lemons' and the pew ends were decorated with flowers by various church members.
Grateful thanks were extended to all that helped with the Flower Festival, especially those that had arranged the splendid floral arrangements and others that took a turn with stewarding. All proceeds were for church funds.
