IT has been a good election for Reform UK, who clinched the Holsworthy Rural seat — a well established Conservative strong hold — in this year’s election.

Lynne Rowsell received 1,753 votes, with the town’s mayor Nigel Kenneally (Lib Dem) coming in second with 1,665.

Lynne said she was both humbled and delighted with the result and promised to support the local community and ensure their voices were heard at a county level.

Lynne told the Post: “I am both delighted and humbled that the people of Holsworthy Rural have put their trust in me, and I, in turn, will do my utmost to help make Holsworthy Rural a place where people are proud to live and raise their families.

“I will spend my term supporting our local community and ensuring their voices are heard. I hope to work together with the local councils to achieve this as I believe that together there is a lot we can achieve.

“Reform UK fully support our farmers and our fishing industry and we will work with them to protect their future in whatever way we can.

“I would like to thank the volunteers who gave up their time to help me with my campaign over the last few weeks, they did an amazing job.

“I would also like to thank the many volunteers who did the verification and the count, they worked diligently until the earlier hours of the morning, tirelessly and professionally to produce accurate results, and we appreciate that. It was an amazing night.”
