BUDE and Stratton branch of Royal British Legion launched the 2018 Poppy Appeal at the main Post Office in Bude.

Courtesy of the postmaster Mr Luke Francis, his staff and helpers operated a coffee morning and a prize draw, which has made a brilliant start to this year’s appeal. In attendance were standard bearer and vice chairman, Peter Phillips, Alan Litchfield, president, Brenda Marynissen, committee member, Godfrey Harrison, chairman and Poppy Appeal organiser, Tim Marynissen, committee member and Mr Luke Francis, postmaster, along with supporters.

The Marhamchurch branch of the Royal British Legion started the 2018 Poppy Appeal with a welcome surprise.

Stan Noakes, chairman, presented a cheque to the value of £500 on behalf of the branch to Mrs Valerie Wonnacott, Poppy Appeal organiser. Valerie remarked that this was a ‘spectacular’ way to start the appeal.

The presentation was made adjacent to the village field of remembrance. In attendance were branch committee members, collectors and supporters.
