BUDE Rotary Club has helped Budehaven Community School students take part in their Ethiopian partner school project.
Budehaven Community School has been working with their partner school in Ethiopia for eight years.
The project was originally established in 2007 when Denise May visited Assosa High School and introduced team games and then netball, which went on to become a national sport for girls.
Further projects and return visits from staff in Assosa have strengthened the partnership.
This year the project is developing Science, English Language and transition from primary to secondary links.
After a rigorous application and interview process involving pupils from Year 9, 10 and 12, three students from Budehaven Community School were selected to join two staff on the visit to Assosa High School in late October.
The staff and pupils have been raising money for the past six months and are grateful for local support.
The president of the Rotary Club of Bude, Mark Sinden, presented a cheque to Matthew Cleave from Budehaven Community School.
Staff and pupils from Budehaven Community School expressed their gratitude to the Rotary Club of Bude for its support for this community project and also expressed thanks to the Blanchminster Trust, Bude-Stratton Town Council and the many family and friends who have supported them with their fundraising
