STRATTON Bowling Club held their annual general meeting in their clubhouse on Monday, October 8.

Before the meeting started, a cheque for £930 was presented to Cornwall Air Ambulance representative Isobel Florendine from monies raised by members for the captains charity during the 2018 season.  

The formal meeting was opened by the club chairman Dave Bowden, who said that this had been the most successful season in competitions that the club had ever experienced.

The fifteen Group and County trophies were displayed for all to admire.

The meeting continued with detailed reports from the club secretary Bruce Peardon and club treasurer Derek Mountjoy.

These were followed by reports from the secretaries on matches, club competitions, both the men’s and ladies section, friendlies and short mat.

Special thanks were given to outgoing match secretaries Gerald and Ann Maynard and for short mat, Daphne Claydon.

The following positions were then decided on for the 2019 season:

President — John Connell; Chairman — Dave Bowden; Secretary — Bruce Peardon; Treasurer — Derek Mountjoy; Friendlies captain — Eunice Hook

Men’s Section

Captain — Alan Hall; Vice-captain — Dave Bowden; Match secretary — Les Lewis; Competition secretary — Dave Clark and Almoner Les Brown

Ladies Section

Chairman — Maureen Butler; Secretary — Elizabeth Hooker; Captain — Sandra Parker; Vice-captain — Eunice Hook; Match secretary — Micheline Smith; Competition secretary — Jill Fell and Almoner Hilda Sargent.

Before the meeting was closed by club president John Connell, a special presentation of life membership was made to Dave Clark for over 30 years of dedicated service to the club.
