FOUR ladies from Dunheved Bowling Club entered this year’s Senior Fours competition, and they have gone on to reach the county finals which take place tomorrow (Friday, July 4) at Camborne.
Pauline Cunniffe, Jan Jenkinson, Wendy Collins and Wendy Allen played their first game against Saltash who were the reigning champions.
The match was tight, with the Ashes taking an early lead, however Dunheved evened up the score and went on to pull away in the last few ends to win 16-12, securing their place in the Group Two final at Camelford on Tuesday, June 24.
They took on Bude, and in another close game, again Dunheved held their nerve to run out 12-8 winners and be crowned Group Two champions.
They will take on the other three group winners at Camborne for the right to represent the Duchy in the national finals at Leamington in August.
There have been some other good results for the club recently.
On Sunday, June 22, the Group Two ladies’ two wood singles took place at Kensey Vale. Dunheved's Lindsey Worth won her first two matches, qualifying for the semi finals where she played Chris Harrison from Liskeard.
The game ended up having to go to an extra end where Lindsey just missed out on a place in the final.
Also, ladies captain Claire Fishleigh played in the Group Two Champion of Champions on Thursday, June 26.
She also qualified for the semi-final, where she lost to Callington's Mandy Jones who went on to win it.
It's been a great year so far for the Dunheved ladies, winning the Group Two four wood singles, the fours and senior fours.
