HOLSWORTHY breathed life into their survival bid as they saw off second-placed St Blazey by 15 runs at Stanhope Park.

Aussie Noah Pigdon was hero for the home side with both bat and ball.

He made 47 following an opening stand of 87 between Aiden Gerry (32) and Jack Greening (65) as they posted a competitive 192-5.

St Blazey were then reduced to 33-3 with key man Rory Dixon out for just four, but they reached 135-4 with South African Ruhann Brenner (40) and Nithin Gowda (33) set.

However, Pigdon’s off-spin accounted for both as they slipped to 140-6.

St Blazey kept chipping away, but after Pigdon took a further three for figures of 5-40 from his eight overs, Greening (2-28) bowled Riley Carne to give the Trees a vital 19 points and move within 14 points of St Minver who were beaten by 70 runs by third-placed Lanhydrock.

Amir Khan returned to form for Lanhydrock as they racked up a hefty 289 all out.

The Pakistani struck 104 from just 75 balls (17 fours, three sixes) including a second wicket stand of 126 with Christian James (51).The hosts fought back through Kai McAuley (2-34) and South African Reece Thompson (3-45) before Jamie Eldridge’s 37 from 25 balls helped Lanhydrock kick on.

Ben Attfield (3-40) reduced St Minver to 42-4, but they couldn’t get all 20 points as the home side ended on 219-8 thanks to Thompson (57), Jonny Centini (43), Matt Hartnett (31) and Ross Keast (28no).

Luckett remain top of the table following an emphatic 141-run victory over basement side St Austell Thirds on Saturday.

The villagers are now 17 points clear of St Blazey and a further ten ahead of both Lanhydrock and Wadebridge Seconds.

Luckett batted first and racked up a hefty 273 all out led by half centuries from Luke Brenton (64) and George Wilkinson (55), while Ryan Brown (36), Marc Brown (25) and Leion Cole (29no) also chipped in. Angus Fosten (4-38) and Kieran Nile (3-51) got some reward.

The Saints got off to a good start through Andrew Bennetts (27), Matt Nile (15) and Sam Ward (43), but Jonny Hoskin’s 6-23 blew the visitors away.

Werrington Seconds saw off their Callington Seconds by 32 runs at Ladycross.

They were reduced to 53-3 before recovering to post 194-8 thanks to teenagers Ed Walters (63), Billy Uglow (47no) and Zander Zambuni (33) as Cally pacemen Ben Alford (3-31) and Spencer Whatley (3-42) shared six wickets.

Cally slipped to 73-5 before Blake Tancock (61 off 64) led a fightback in partnership with Jim Shorten (26).

But once they were separated by the brilliant Uglow (5-25 off 9), George Rickard (4-17 off 5) returned to run through the tail as Cally were dismissed for 162.

Wadebridge Seconds proved too strong for visiting Bude.

The Seasiders chose to bat but needed a late 58 not out from Aussie Brett Hunter to post 195-7.

Earlier, Wayne Adams (33) and Warren Rumble (32) made starts on a used pitch.

In the chase, Charlie McLachlan made a quickfire 24 before Tom Wood (50) played the anchor role which allowed Jamie Beare to make a fine 80.

Three wickets fell late on including two to David Sillifant (2-27), but the Swans were led home by James Cox’s 23 not out.
