BUDE TOWN manager Steve Hackett felt that Saturday’s game against Launceston was a case of two points lost after his side came from behind to draw in the North Cornwall derby.
Kian Berry gave the Clarets a great start with a 13th minute goal and Alfie Fothergill doubled their lead 10 minutes before half-time.
But Bude responded immediately with Saddam Bello reducing the arrears and midway through the second half Billy Hopcroft equalised.
Reflecting on the match, Steve said: “From my perspective it was two points lost. When going two goals down you think that a point is alright, but in the end we were just disappointed to come away with the one.
“The issue we had was probably our own doing. First half we didn’t play very well and gave them a two-goal head start which gave ourselves a lot to do in the second half. Once we started knocking the ball around and looking after it a bit better we looked comfortable and dangerous.
“We were well on top, really going for the win and chucked the kitchen sink at them pretty much. If we had another five or 10 minutes at the end of the game, I think we would of won but that’s just the way it goes.”
“One of the issues we have is that were quite inconsistent. There’s been too many times this season when we’ve played really well in one half and then not so much in the other half. We just really need to work on our consistency.”
Speaking about Launceston’s performance, Steve added: “They were dogged and very organised, they kept their shape really well and fought hard for each other. Launceston have got good players and are obviously very well drilled and hard working.”
