THE semi-finalists for the 2025/26 Launceston Cup have been decided with holders Boscastle advancing on penalties at Bude Town Reserves on Sunday, March 22.
The Castle found themselves two goals down thanks to youngster Rio Colgrave’s brace, but James Mellan-Metulewicz pulled one back on the hour before Jake Dickinson fired in a beauty from 25 yards.
All eight penalties went in before Nick Lawson’s save allowed Matt Jolliffe to do the honours with Boscastle’s fifth and set up a tie with Halwill who also advanced on spot-kicks on March 29.
The Devon and Exeter League high-flyers started a firm favourites at St Piran League Division Two East outfit Week St Mary who defended heroically in the second half.
Earlier on, Ben Truscott’s low free-kick found its way in, but just as it looked like they’d go through, Sam Jago tapped in from close-range.
In the shoot-out, Josh Chalk saved three of Week’s four penalties for a 3-1 success.
Southgate Vets visited Liskeard Athletic Reserves and came up just short in a five-goal thriller despite goals from Josh Chidley and Adam Bewes.
Southgate missed a penalty and a chance to go two nil up and were punished when Ollie Wells headed home a Wayne Powney cross.
Later on, Jamie Gilbert’s pass found Colin Wilson who volleyed in, and the goalscorer then turned provider for Powney to stab the ball in.
The East Cornwall derby between Dobwalls and Pensilva also saw five goals, but it was the Pens that made it through on their travels thanks to Kyle Tamblyn’s 85th minute header.
Earlier, Pensilva took the lead through Kyle Hutchings’ penalty before wing-back Zak Waters’ rasping shot drew them level.
Pensilva regained the lead on 40 minutes via Jack Podmore’s well-struck shot from the left-hand side, but a Dobwalls free-kick was headed home by Adam King to level scores before half-time.
