SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE PREMIER WEST
Wadebridge Town 1 Bude Town 1
FINN Reeve’s late header earned Bude Town a valuable point at mid-table rivals Wadebridge Town on Saturday.
The north coast clash was expected to be tight with both sides separated by just one point, and for large parts they cancelled each other out, not helped by a swirling wind which meant few clearcut opportunities.
Bude looked the likelier in the first half and in the 20th minute were unlucky when a rasping strike from Jake Woodland struck the crossbar and bounced out.
Playing with the wind, Bude continued to push were unable to provide the spark that was needed to break the deadlock.
The second half saw Wadebridge gain more confidence and they spawned a couple of decent opportunities without troubling the Bude goal.
Both sides then had confident penalty appeals turned down and the game looked to be heading for a goalless draw.
The last 10 minute however saw the game spring into life. In the 85th minute a long ball from home goalkeeper Rob Rosevear was flicked on and as Bude keeper Ty Rowe rushed out, the ball bounced over his head and was tapped into the empty net by sub Sam Wickins.
However, the Seasiders rallied immediately and with time slipping away they grabbed the equaliser through left-back Reeve.
A good Harrison Swatton cross was met by Rosevear who was challenged by Archie Perrott, but the clearance only fell as far as Reeve who expertly headed home.
Bude are back in action on Saturday when they welcome St Day to Broadclose Park (3pm).
